DESCRIPTION, Mk II |
|
The fuze body (1) houses the striker mechanism and the explosive train. The va-nes (3) are attached to the threaded portion of the striker (4). A striker cup (5) also prevents the vanes from turing until the safety fork (7) is with-drawn. The primer (10) is contained in an inertia weight (2) which is kept away from the stri-ker by the creep spring (8). A safety pin (6) prevents accidental moving of the interia weight. A flash channel (13) carries the flash from the primer (10) to the relay (9) which in turn sets off the short delay (11) and the black powder charge (12). |
7 |
OPERATION, Mk II |
|
After loading, the safety pin (6) is removed. When the bomb is released, the safe-ty fork (7) is withdrawn, and the vanes (3) are free to rotate, and the striker (4) is screwed downwards toward the primer (10). Impact with the gound causes the inertia weight (2) to overcome the creep spring (8) and push the primer against the striker. The primer sets off the explosive train. |
