CONSTRUCTION OF BODY

The body of this bomb is constructed of steel plate, the cylindrical body being rivetted longitudinally with four rows of large rivets (two rows on each side). The conical nose section of pressed steel is rivetted to the body and a coni-cal nose adapter is rivetted to the nose section. A flat, male base plate is rivetted to the rear of the body. This bomb is of distinctive construction and is easily recognized.

COLOR & MARKINGS ON BOMB AND TAIL

The body and tail assembly are painted yellow with a green band just forward of the suspension lug and a red band around the nose. The markings "Amatol 70/30" or "Amatol 80/20" may be found stencilled in three places just below the green band.

The tail assembly consists of: A cone with a rounded apex held to the base plate by four bolts; four vanes are rivetted to the cone and a reinforced cylinder is rivetted to the cone.
